The Midwest District encompasses fleets in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Our active fleets are at Wilmette Harbor, Lake Carlyle, and Clinton Lake in Illinois, Lake Freeman in Indiana, Lake McBride in Iowa, Medicine Lake in Minnesota, and Ephraim, Madison, Neenah, Delevan Lake in Wisconsin and Capital City in Missouri.
Our District Governor is Jim Crabtree. The Midwest District is also home to FSSA Past President Bill Vogler.

Saturday of the seventh annual Glow in the Dark regatta at Clinton Lake Sailing Association was a blowout. Winds gusted to the low 30s as the afternoon wore on, like a sirocco or the Santa Anas. Still, there was plenty of beer and friendly visiting. Many of us enjoyed admiring class president Frank Gerry’s new boat, Eva, which Harry and Karen delivered to the regatta.

Flying Scot Fleet 83 at Carlyle, Illinois hosted it's Egyptian Cup on Labor Day weekend at Carlyle lake in Southern Illinois. The Cup is over 50 years old having originated at Crab Orchard Lake in Carbondale, Illinois as a multi fleet regatta. For the last 20 years it has been a Flying Scot Regatta at Carlyle. Sixteen boats competed in warm temperatures. Four races were finished on Saturday and Sunday's races were called due to lack of wind.

The EYC’s annual Women's Regatta was sailed in Flying Scots on the evening of Tuesday, July 30, 2013
The winning team was Nancy Claypool, Annika Pearson and Carrie Berger with four straight bullets for 4 points.
Second was Ally Dykman, Erica Heidler and Suzy Dykman, who prevailed in a tiebreaker with 12 points.
Third was Delaney Dykman, Gretchen Pearson and Sydney Richter, also with 12 points.

The 108th consecutive annual Ephraim Regatta was a big success. Despite light and lumpy sailing conditions, the race committee managed to complete two races on each day. And everyone, racers and non-racers alike, had fun at Friday’s Regatta Welcome Party and Saturday’s Bratfest!
