The Midwest District encompasses fleets in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Our active fleets are at Wilmette Harbor, Lake Carlyle, and Clinton Lake in Illinois, Lake Freeman in Indiana, Lake McBride in Iowa, Medicine Lake in Minnesota, and Ephraim, Madison, Neenah, Delevan Lake in Wisconsin and Capital City in Missouri.
Our District Governor is Jim Crabtree. The Midwest District is also home to FSSA Past President Bill Vogler.

Things heated up this weekend at Carlyle Sailing Association with the Egyptian Cup Regatta. It was no surprise that the parking lot seemed to melt under your feet and the downwind runs reminded you of a rotisserie oven. We had another wildly successful (if I do say so myself) Glow in the Dark this past weekend. With 26 boats registered, we beat our all time record by one boat, and everyone came ready to have a good time. The Midwest Districts began Friday 9/4 when Brian Hayes of North Sails conducted an all day seminar on how to improve set up, sail trim and boat handling. Demonstrations of tuning and sail trim were held on a boat in the shade. That was followed by in class power point review. Then we launched boats in light winds for on the water exercises. Brian had just raced with his son, winning the New York District in a Scot. His insights were very helpful to all. We are looking forward to racing... Read More
The 110th Ephraim Regatta, the oldest continuous regatta in the United States, was held over the weekend of Friday, July 31 – Sunday, August 2. There were 27 Flying Scots (including nine juniors) registered for the event. Flying Scot Fleet #44 hosted a pre-regatta, on-and-off-the-water clinic, organized by Fleet Captain Jennifer Ikeda-Faugust with coaches Ryan Malmgren and Larry Taggart on Friday afternoon. The eighth annual Glow in the Dark regatta hosted the largest crowd yet, with 25 boats on the line, only 8 of which were local club members (our previous record was 21 boats). Travelers from Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Indiana joined us at our beautiful lake to camp and sail.
