Carolinas

 

The Carolinas District encompasses fleets in North and South Carolina as well as a fleet in Virginia.

In North Carolina we have Carolina Sailing Club in Durham, Lake Norman in Mooresville, Lake Townsend Yacht Club in Greensboro and Moorehead City Boating Club in Moorehead City. In South Carolina, we have Lake Murray Sailing Club in Columbia and South Carolina Yacht Club on Hilton Head Island. And in Virginia we have Smith Mountain Lake in Lake Roanoke.

The District Governor is Dave Safirstein.

The flagship event for the Flying Scot class is the North American Championship.  This year the event will be held at Lake Norman Yacht Club.  If you have never been to LNYC, it is a wonderful venue located in a central location.  LNYC is a member-run club located just north of Charlotte, North Carolina.  It is situated on about 20 acres in a quiet corner of Lake Norman.  The club is known for its friendly members and wonderful grounds.  The Flying Scot NAC has... From Dave Rink: Congratulations to Dan and Ella Neff for Winning the 2021 LNYC Fall 48! Saturday morning started with temps in the 30s and the wind in the 20s. After a short postponement ashore to let the breeze die down into the upper teens, we got in 3 races Saturday (2 Sunday). We had 33 entrants, but due to the high winds many boats split up, joined other crews, and went 3 up. Miraculously, no capsizes! Blackbeard Sailing Club in New Bern, NC, hosted the 2021 ACC on 9/11-9/12/2021.  There were 17 boats on the line and there was a little wind on Satruday for 3 races. No wind on Sunday so no racing on Sunday.
