2009 - Chaos Cup

Before you put the boat away for the winter in 2009 there is one last regatta, North of the Carolina's, that you must attend! October 17th, 2009 the Quannapowitt Yacht Club, 26 Linda Road in Wakefield, Massachusetts is hosting our annual Flying Scot Regatta affectionately known as "The Chaos Cup". QYC has hosted "The Chaos Cup" regatta for twenty-two years. The story of the regatta, and the boat it was named after, can be found on our QYC Chaos Information ( http://www.sailqyc.com/chaos ) . Lake Quannapowitt is located just 15 minutes north of Boston and is the head of the Saugus River. The lake is located in a relatively urban area that is popular with local walkers, runners, bikers, and people watchers. Power boats with more than 10 horses, excluding our rescue boats, are forbidden from the lake so there is no chop to contend with. The lake at most is 12 feet deep but has a sandy/muddy bottom that won't damage centerboards if you manage to bottom out. Our Club House is heated and offers a comfortable area to warm up by a fire place. Our docks are protected in a cove and offer spacious room to swing in for comfortable setup and take down. You can launch your boat from our beach or hoist. Lodging is available close by at the Lord Wakefield Hotel (http://www.lordwakefield.com/) which is only 1/10th of a mile away from the club! We will be offering a continental breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and pizza for dinner for only $55. Hot coffee will be available all day. Awards will be given to the top three sailors.
