Tuning, Trimming, Polar

I am still looking for a better guide to racing my Scot. Does anyone know of something other than the builders or some of the sail makers guides?

Also, doe the Scot have a polar available?

thank you,

Great Scot book

Greg Fisher Sailing is an excellent book about Scots.

I agree

This book is awesome and will get you moving faster in a Scot than any diagrams or calculation.  Keep in mind that every Scot has the same polars, and the nut on the tiller is largely the determining factor.

thanks to all, got Fisher's book, just what I need. I appreciate the link to the polar too.

I am not aware that any of

I am not aware that any of the fastest Scot sailors use polars.

As a centerboard, planing boat, their utility will be limited, and certainly if you are focusing your attention on a speedo and an electronic indicator of your TWA, you will not be paying attention to shifts, puffs, waves, and other boats...all of which are more important.

Sail a lot to get a feel for what's fast, compete whenever you can to compare yourself to other boats, and the speed will come.  There is no substitute for time on the helm.

Books and videos, on the other hand, can be very helpful.  If read before, and not during, a race.
