Adult Sailing School - Beginners and Racers
Deep Creek Sailing School in Western Maryland dedicates two weeks each summer for teaching adults of all ability levels, how to sail using Flying Scots. Students will receive classroom chalk talks and lots of on-the-water instruction. The first week will start on June 16th. The second week of adult sailing classes will start June 23rd.
Classes are tailored to the student's and groups ability. Beginning sailors will learn the points of sail and basic boat handling. More advanced sailors will learn the use of the spinnaker and basics of sailboat racing. Skipper and crew couples, as well as singles, are welcome.
Lessons are taught by U.S. Sailing certified instructors and follow U.S Sailing prescribed safety protocol. Tuition for adult sailing school weeks is $350 per sailor per week using DCSS boats. A single $50 discount applies per one boat if a sailor provides his or her own Flying Scot. Limited low cost lodging is available at Deep Creek Yacht Club (Deerhaven).
