The combined Ohio District Chamionships and Moraine Sailing Club - Fleet 80 Annual Sail for the Grail was held last weekend.  Racing stared with the 5 minute gun at 12:00.  With 20 boats participating, including 5 Challengers we held two statrs.

Saturday's air was mostly from the south sometime a little east of south. oscillating.  Wind speed was variable on the water from 10 to 15 mph and occasional gusts to 18 or 22 mph that could be sustained for several seconds.

Sunday's wind was also from the south, but light.  5 to 7 mph often less, occasioanlly a litle more.  The light winds precluded the traditional Bridge-to-Bridge race.  Instead a long, for Lake Arthur,  W3 course was laid, and eventually shortend to a W2 that was more than an hour in durration.

All the racing was competetive and thrilling.  Staying out of "holes" and moving to the ripplels payed off on Sunday.

Delicious meals were provided including a lovely dinner party at teh Red Rock Falls in Slippery Rock, PA.  It is always fun to visit with all out Flying Scot friends from the Distrcit and Beyond.  VIsitors from Cowan stayed next door at the Aple Butter B&B.  Marty and Stephanie had a yurt at the Rose Point facility.  Yurts are cool.  Ben Williams and Deb Aranson, were in from Clinton Lake Fleet 135, as well as our very own YouTube Star, Eric Bussell.   Eric has an excellent Crew Guide now.  You may want to check that out.

The Phinney's, Nate and Janelle were in and racing with their three children, Claire, Victoria, and William.  Toumas Sandholm had his two daughters, Sophia and Annika on board 5855.  Last year Toumas sailed Peach, one the Community Sailing Club boarts.  This year Ken Hale was in command of good ole Peach.

More later, Paul Rowan, Captain Fleet 80
