Geri and Frank Meehan have been at the heart of Deep Creek Lake's Flying Scot world for years. You could not go to Deep Creek without running into them. It is with a heavy heart that we tell you that Geri has passed away. We will always miss her warm smile and her endkess energy. Her family and friends far and wide will miss her so very much. The Sail-Fest Flying Scot Regatta on Kentucky Lake gave racers an experience in extremes this weekend. For race one on Saturday, winds were out of the South at 16-18 kts with gust at 24 and maybe higher. Of the 15 boats checked in, 9 boats braved the strong winds for a "white knuckle" ride. The Ohio District Championship and Fleet 80 Sail for the Grail Regatta were held together on September 10 and 11 at Lake Arthur, Moraine State Park, Butler County, Pennsylvania. Wind conditions were light on Saturday, and the Race Day PRO Dan Goldberg set up three LF2 courses. The wind held pretty steady (for Moraine), and three races were completed by mid-afternoon. The Sandy Douglass Memorial and Ohio District Regatta was hosted by Deep Creek Yacht Racing Association at the Deep Creek Yacht Clubs in Swanton, MD.
