The Flying Scot Class has established wind and sailing guidelines. These are guided by both safety and the nature of this particular boat and are the result of many hours of discussion and experience.

The Sail-Fest Flying Scot Regatta on Kentucky Lake gave racers an experience in extremes this weekend.  For race one on Saturday, winds were out of the South at 16-18 kts with gust at 24 and maybe higher.  Of the 15 boats checked in, 9 boats braved the strong winds for a "white knuckle" ride.  After a 2 hour postponement to see if the wind would calm a bit, race 2 had 12 - 14 kts....

Racers - Become informed about Race Committee Guidelines, Sailing Conditions, and Wind Limits Document

The Executive Board wants to make members aware of a key document for regattas. It directs event organizers, Race Committee, PRO, and competitors alike on how FSSA races should be structured and run. These guidelines include length and number of races, communications, and many aspects of sailing conditions that affect the quality, safety, and enjoyment of sailing in these regattas. Please take some time and become familiar with the contents.
