Happy New Year Flying Scot Sailors! With the holidays now in our wake, it is time to start planning your regatta schedule. Since it looks like the world is returning to normal this is good time to pencil in the dates for our sanctioned regattas.

These events are:

• Midwinters: March 19 – 24, Ft. Walton Yacht Club, Fort Walton FL

• Women’s North American Championships: April 29 – May 1, Corinthian Sailing Club, Dallas TX

Congratulations to Dan and Ella Neff for Winning the 2021 LNYC Fall 48! Saturday morning started with temps in the 30s and the wind in the 20s. After a short postponement ashore to let the breeze die down into the upper teens, we got in 3 races Saturday (2 Sunday). We had 33 entrants, but due to the high winds many boats split up, joined other crews, and went 3 up. Miraculously, no capsizes! Full results are here:

The Clinton Lake Sailing Association is a sailing club located in Central Illinois between Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, and Decatur.  The club features a large outdoor pavilion, 2 ramps, and a small dock with a large grass area for mast-up storage.  When it comes to amenities, CLSA is very rustic and simple relative to most sailing clubs you'll see when traveling to regattas.  There is no indoor clubhouse.  If you don't like using our porta potty you will need to walk a couple hundred yards to the marina building.  In recent years we added...

Congratulations to Paul Foerster with crew Carrie and Carl Foerster on winning the 48th Flying Scot Fleet 23 Open House Regatta and Southwest District Championships. We were thrilled to welcome 15 boats from out of town, including boats from Tennessee, Alabama, Illinois, Louisiana, Arkansas, and probably a couple others I am forgetting. With a forecast for no wind on Sunday, PRO Jack Yoes ran 4 great races in very shifty conditions on Saturday for the 29 boats in the championship fleet, 10 in the challenger fleet, and 1 in the main...
