Capital District

The Capital District encompasses fleets in part of Maryland, part of Pennsylvania and Virginia. In Maryland we have Selby Bay Sailing Center in Edgewater and West River Sailing Club in Galesville. In Pennsylvania we have Lake Clark in Wrightsville. And in Virginia we have Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville, Chesapeake Bay in Williamsburg, Swift Creek Reservoir in Richmond, Lake of the Woods in Locust Grove and Rappahannock River Yacht Club in Irvington.

The District Governor is David Neff from the Selby Bay fleet. This is also part-time home to FSSA Chief Measurer, Bob Neff.

Awards presented by Regatta Chair Marvin Pozefsky for Fleet 42 Summer Solstice Regatta at Selby Bay Sailing Center. Cole Daitch won with his grandfather Craig Singleton as crew. Len Guenther and Barb placed second. Frank Gibson and Debbie were third. Some hot racing with boats from Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and New Jersey on the starting line. Great party and food in the Selby Bay Solstice Regatta tradition.

Who's going to the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show?  Make a weekend of it and enjoy the charm of Annapolis' historic seaport while you shop for the latest in equipment, electronics, clothing and boating accessories at the 100+ on-land nautical exhibits.  Lots of demos, sailboat rides and lessons, even rum tasting, and some other fun events.  Nearly 80 sailboats on display, including a Flying Scot and Dave Neff will be there to answer any questions you have.  Could this be your boat?

Are you wishing you were at the ACC's this weekend?  This is a picture of one competitor's dock at the beach house they are staying at - we should all have a mooring like that!   Reports are that racing was great today with weather in the 70's and winds from the northeast in the teens.  There are 35 boats, 23 in Championship and 12 in Challenger and competitors from the Capital District are also vying for the District Championship.

2014 Atlantic Coast Championship and Capital Districts - Fishing Bay Yacht Club, Deltaville, Virginia

The 2014 Flying Scot Atlantic Coast Championship is on the weekend of 9/19 - 9/21 at Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville, Virginia.  .  Defending Champions Rob Whittemore and John Wake will be among the 35+ boats competing in the five race series.  Sailors from as far as Connecticut to South Carolina to Western Maryland will enjoy excellent competition, superb race management, a gourmet dinner by our own Chef Alain Vincey, and the special camaraderie of fellow Scotters that the Class is so well known for.  This will also be the Capital District Championship with the title going to the top boat from this district.  PRO Rick Klein and his All-Star RC Team along with Chief Judge Brooks Zerkel are ready for the action to get started on the race course.  Good luck to all competitors.
