Flying Scot / Train Wreck For Sale
Hello all. I am finally getting off my butt and putting my train wreck of a Flying Scot up for sale. I purchased the boat last May on Ebay - see "new owner of scarry boat" under the owning / rigging forum August 5 2010 (I think page 3?). The boat was very poorly repaired by a Michigan hillbilly / crook and I was dumb enough to buy it basically sight unseen (ie... sent my not so concerned brother with cash). The hull has been repair on both sides approx. midship and as I say not so well - note the Vice Grip Pliers holding the hull and deck together on the starboard side in picks. The mast (as I found last fall when I moved the mast to cover the boat) is bent on both sides (looks like it was crushed) a few feet up from the base. One of the shrouds is broken and will need to be replaced. The main sail is not usable, the jib is fair condition (one of hanks is bad). I was able to purchase 2 of the correct rudders (came with wrong one) and one appears to be servicable along with tiller and extension. The boom, main sheet, and boom vang are all there and look correct. The Trailer is in good shape with the exception of the winch which should probably be replaced at some point. We cleaned and repacked the wheel bearings (which were in good shape), installed new bearing buddys, replaced all three tires, and replace the lights. I have a title for the boat but have not yet transfered it to me as I will have to pay sales tax of 7% to do so. If someone is just going to use the boat for parts and cut the hull with a sawzall then I am not going to transfere the title. I am willing to get a proper title if that seals the deal. I have over $3000.00 into this boat at this point and understand that I am going to loose money. My wife and I currently have our lake cabin up for sale (which is where we were going to sail the Scott) so we can buy and larger sailboat to keep on Lake Michigan - and yes I will have a very thourough servey done before buying another boat of any kind! All I would like to do is lessen my loss by selling it for what I can. So if anyone is interested - best offer takes it! Please contact me with any questions @ russ...@yahoo.com. Good sailing, Russ.

I found out where this boat came from. Looked at the pictures and it is the same boat. Boat was sold in NC in spring of 2010 at a salvage auction closed bid sale. The guy bought it with trailer for only $130.00. The pictures are of all the damage the boat had before the "repairs" were done. The link is www.salvagedirect.com/asp/viewitem.asp?itemid=756642.

If you part her out, I may be interested in centerboard. Is it "clean"- no dents or dings? Please send pics.
