Are there qualifiers for the NACs?

we are a new fleet in AL and wondering if the NACs are open to all Flying Scot Sailing Association members, or if you have to qualify in some way at a regional? FS Hull# 1296 Elsbeth

Everyone is welcome to attend. Qualifying races are sailed the first two days (three races), these are used to split the fleet into championship and challenger divisions. The next three days are sailed with the two divisions, separate starts, scoring, etc.

I absolutely recommend that a new fleet that is developing go to the NAC. It is a great way to build comradery in your fleet, even if most are newer to racing. We had seven boats go to the 2008 NAC in Tom's River NJ from our fleet. We all registered in challenger (no qualifiers that year, short format) and we had a blast duking it out in a new venue. We all learned a lot. If the NAC is close, take everybody you can! It is a great way to learn from and sail with people who really know how to make the boat go. If you have any questions about the 2010 Flying Scot NAC, feel free to post to a topic in this forum, or contact your Disctrict Governer, the host club, or me directly. Bay Waveland Yacht Club is an enjoyable place to sail. My wife Greta had the pleasure of sailing the US Sailing Adams Cup finals in Flying Scots there just last year and had a great experience - great sailing, superb hospitality.
