Nationals time duration can it be truncated?

I have not attended a Flying Scot National Championship, but have been to a few in different classes. Can the format be altered to Truncate the overall length of the event? With todays economic climate,travel costs, time off work, childcare costs and housing. It is prohibiting for me to attend the National Championships. I know in other classes that the use of the weekend as racing/qualifying and perhaps two days during the week really helps with attendance. Any other thoughts or venue where I can submit a proposal if it has not already been addressed? Thanks,

I had said the exact same thing to the board at the MW events and it was shot down as their "survey" said there "was not a majority" interest in doing so...oh well the numbers could be better...or at least have the qualifing scores carry over so its not TWO days of wasted sailing.

I have to say that I was a big fan of the slightly shorter NAC format in Fishing Bay (2007) and Tom's River in 2008. I think the FSSA should allow the host club to decide on the format. A big part of why I am not gong to Wisconsin is distance, but also the number of hotel nights in a resort town with relatively expensive hotels. The shorter format saves hotel nights, and I think that the idea of self-selecting your fleet was workable. In Fishing Bay, a few ringers sailed in challenger, that really belonged in champs, but that was prompted by trying to avoid a round-robin if over 60 boats were in a fleet. If there was not a majority, then it also means that the current format has no majority. It seems that a shorter format encourages newcomers. The shortened format for FS NAC was a big plus factor to many of myself and fellow Flying Scot sailors in Fleet 23 that participated in the 2007 FS NAC, at Fishing Bay Yacht Club. Some of the folks that made the trip from Texas could only participate because of the shortened format. The shortened format was fantastic if you ask me. Shorter format is also much easier on the host club - volunteers and expense for fewer days.
