Motor for flying scot?

Hello, I'm looking for suggestions on what type of motor would be best for my flying scot. I will only be sailing in a lake, so I don't think I'll need something too powerful. Would also like to use electric if at all possible and somewhat affordable. Thanks for any suggestions you might have. Jeff

I also sail on a relatively small lake, approx 10x1.5 miles. I use a Minnkota elctric with 36# thrust. Although not speedy it serves the purpose when the winds die down to nothing.

Jeff, I also sail on a small lake. I had a Honda 2HP long shaft (from another boat) and decided it was too loud and shaft too long. So I recently got a Suzuki 2.5HP short shaft and I think it will be more what I need and want. I removed the restriction turn plate so I can lift the motor up into lock position without having the modify/raise the motor mount. The Suzuki is about $200 less expensive than the Honda. Good luck, Jim

My Honda 2hp long shaft is easy to start, reliable, powerful and prop stays in the water on port tack when sailing and motoring too.
