Severna Park/Annapolis Maryland area

Hi all, I just got back from Firsty(Senior) parent weekend at the Naval Academy. We had a great time. One of my step-sons will be graduating in May of 2008. My wife tells me we will be spending a week in the area (approx). We will be having family and friends flying in for the week and festivities. My question is if I wanted to take my FS along for the week are there any good public launching areas in the area to get out on the bay? thanks all! John Blanchard FS#618 Exeter, RI and Albuquerque, NM ........the FS is in RI NOT NM!!!!

The public launching areas in Annapolis are Sandy Pointe State Park (http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/southern/sandypoint.html) and Truxton Park (http://www.ci.annapolis.md.us/info.asp?page=2374). Severn Sailing Assoc might have recipricol privledges. Congrats on the future graduation of your firstie! You will have a busy busy week... you will not want to sail on Tues or Weds of that week due to excessive large boat traffic watching the Blue Angels! (I am a FS owner and also work at USNA)

thanks the info, I'll store it for future use! Is Sandy Pt.

When I owned a MacGregor 25, we used to put in at Truxton Park on Spa Creek. It is a nice wooded area not too far from the draw bridge near the Sheraton in the central boating area of Annapolis. It has nice docks and is very pretty crusing starting in Spa Creek. Congratulations on your relative going to the Naval Academy. I was in the naval ROC program and in training at the academy during the summer of 1968. However starting in the creek, you might need a motor. Jim
