Flying Scot Owner Wantabe

I'm very new to sailing and just as new to the Flying Scot...although this site and others dedicated to the Flying Scot are a considerable help...thanks... Can anyone recommend a regatta my wife and I can attend to begin to familiarize ourselves with the Flying Scot, talk with current owners, etc? We live in Virginia about 40 miles south of Washington DC and would prefer a venue within a half-day drive. Thanks...Keith

The ACC championship, this year in edenton,nc is a terrific regatta and beautiful venue with lots of Scots. Don't let the regatta title scare you off...lots of fun and it alternates every year with a site closer to DC.[:D]

Thanks much for the recommendation.

Thanks much for the recommendation...we'll put it on our schedule...are there any opportunities in August that you recommend?

Check out this link, from the FSSA website for races in August.

Check out this link, from the FSSA website for races in August. http://www.fssa.com/ht/race/race-cal-aug.htm There are also several fleets in the Mid Atlantic that race weekly. If you look at the fleet list on this web site, you will likely find fleets where you can meet some folks. This will also allow you to check out the fleets and figure out which one fits your needs, so that when you find a boat, you can join one. Many have leads on boats for sale. At Fleet 163 in eastern PA, you can race Wednesday and most weekends, but we are a little far away. I bet you will find similar schedules in your area. The Scot is a popular boat in most of the Mid Atlantic. Have fun, Phil Scheetz FS 4086

The Sandy Douglas memorial in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland, is July 29 - 30. The boat builder will probably be there along with several very good Scot sailors. Best of luck with your adventures! Diane Kampf dianekampf@charter.net

GRSA located in Richmond, VA has several regattas.

GRSA located in Richmond, VA has several regattas. We have anywhere from 6-12 Scots per race. All of the skippers are willing to shagre knowledge without the intimidation of a big regatta. www.grsa.org Good Sailing! M. Jones FS 2450
