Underseat Webbing

Does anyone know the purpose of the 2" wide polyester webbing installed loosely under the seats?

The blocks on my boat are glassed in. The webbing just hangs loose as if it was a hiking strap installed under the seat. It almost looks like you might want to hang life preservers off it as storage.

The webbing is there to hold the styrofoam floatation in place.

The webbing is there to hold the styrofoam floatation in place. At each end of the webbing you will find a glassed-in wood block, a ss plate and screw with washer. Undo one end and tighten your webbing to remove the slack Jack F. Stewart FS1342 Alliance, OH

You might be able to use that to hold your paddle out of the way

You might be able to use that to hold your paddle out of the way but still have it accessable.
