Challanger vs. Championship Fleets

I recently acquired an older Flying Scot and would like to get back into racing........I have not raced Scot's since I was a teenager when my father owned # 169.........Are there rules for being placed in Challanger vs. Champion or is it sailors choice to pick the level of competion they would feel comfortable at...........Steve Ungberg

Right now, the North American Championship is the only event in which boats are placed in the divisions based on qualifying race results. At other events, skippers decide in which division they want to race. This includes the Mid-Winters, just concluding today in St. Petersburg. In general, winners of a sanctioned Challenger division regatta must race thereafter at that regatta in the Championship division. How rigidly this rule applies depends on the event. FSSA Forum editor
