New Member looking for a boat

Hello all......looks like a nice forum. My YC in Southern NJ is starting a FS fleet. As a club we previewed 4-5 1 designs this summer and essentially settled on the FS (I am sure those involved have already been prowling this site...) I am looking to purcahse a used FS late model, preferably radical race rigged, need trailer but engine is optional. Sail condition is not a concern. Plan is to club race this for a few years withe my 10yo daughter and maybe wife...and maybe do some local regattas to start. I have20+ years exp collegiate/post collegiate in 470s J24s J30s Stars offshore etc but have not had a reasonable sheet in my hand for about 9 yrs due to offspring production and maintenance. Now is the time. Seems like the FS is a great solution/class. In addition to perusing the myriad websites..I thought I would post something here. Any advice about where/how to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ..Frank

A good place to start is to stay right here in the Flying Scot Sailing Association website. Back out of the forum and scroll down to the Boats/Equipment/Merchandise link. That will lead you to the used boats section. A quick glance showed that there are several for sale in the eastern states. Also check out the Flying Scot website. They have a section on how to inspect a used boat.

There were recently some Scots for sale in the Toms River area. I am part of FS Fleet 163 at Lake Nockamixon, north of Philly. There are Scot fleets here and at Spruce Run, in NJ, east of here. What YC are you sailing from? I am hoping to bring my Scot down to the Cape May area, as relatives have a house down there. Check the Caveat page on the FSSA site. Phil Scheetz FS 4086

I have 2 Scots on trailers available. Located in Greenwich, CT. Dave Osler Cell 203-561-1232. They have been on trailers for the last 15 years (dry sailed). #2222 and 2225. I also have 2 not on trailerss available dirt cheap. 3876 for $2400 and 1775 for $900 both are stored upside down in the winter. Please contact me and I will put you in touch. David D. Osler
