Sell Your Old Sails at the 2013 NAC

The Flying Scot Foundation has generously awarded a grant to North Carolina Community Sailing & Rowing (NCCSR) to purchase used sails for our 12 Flying Scots.  NCCSR is located on Lake Norman not far from LNYC host of 2013 NAC.  NCCSR will pay $200 for each retired racing set of main & jib brought to the NAC.  We will have a table set up at LNYC.  Selling your old sails to NCCSR will really help the community sailing racing and learn-to-sail programs and also help you dramatically reduce the cost of attending the event.  We have no limit on the number we will buy and will be writing checks at the event.

Advance notice will be helpful but not necessary.  Contact Larry Vitez or Christy Lux.

2013 Midwinters at Sarasota Day 4 - Race 4 and 5

A wonderful day on the water with lighter air and lots of sunshine. Got in 2 good races but the 3rd race did not materialize with not enough steady wind to pull it off. Congratulations to Championship Division winners Paul Abdullah and Alex Krumdieck and Challenger Division winners Harry Bernstein and crew. The prestigious Allan M. Douglas award for sportsmanship was awarded to Mark Taylor. Full results are now available here. Thanks to Sarasota Sailing Squadron for hosting and to Regatta Chair John Domagala and PRO Judy Hanlon for a wonderful week! Super regatta!

2013 Midwinters at Sarasota Day 3 - no races

After postponement until 14:00 due to too much wind, we went out and tried to get races in. The RC did all they could, however, the wind built and the RC boat's anchor was dragging. After one abandoned race, the wind just built too much and we went in. It was a beautiful sunny day on the water, so we still enjoyed the sailing.  And we got to see the local manatee swimming around the sandbar in the bay - how cool is that?
