I am a new Flying Scot owner (recently restored hull #1520). When trailering is there any special consideration given to the centerboard? Do you pull it up all the way or allow it to rest on the trailer? Do you scotch it or shim it in any way to prevent movement?
I use the wooden centerboard wedge from flying scot. You can find it on their online store (search for 720800). Its basically two thin woodstrips screwed and glued together on one side and carped strips glued on the inside of the other end of the wood strips.
The center board is then lowered a little bid, wedge is stuck between both sides of the centerboard and the centerboard trunk. This prevents the centerboard to rattle and hit the trunk while trailering.
I wouldn't rest the centerboard on the trailer. I'd be afraid the movement between the trailer and the boat would cause damage to the centerboard.
Claus had the right idea, except that I would raise it back up again to make the wedge snug. Make sure the line to the centerboard is secure. You do not want to see that board drop while trailering or you will be making other repairs that could be avoided.
