Welcome!

The last month has seen many changes to the FSSA web site.  Our major switchover on January 26 is described HERE.
Along the way we will be updating the site in a more or less continuous fashion.  We'll try to note these changes, both big and small, in this forum.
Since the switchover the following changes have occurred:

Districts photo selection.  The District Governor and their designees can now select photos which appear at the top of their District Page.
The "old" photo gallery (Gallery-2) has been removed and the photos moved to the new photo handling facility
We've enhanched the photo viewing facility in some places.   We will roll this out more globally in the near future.
There has also been some clean-up of the Fleets info but we know there is much more to do here.

We hope you find this forum area useful and informative.  Feel free to add your comments and ask questions here.  We have a lot of plans for the future and you can help shape them here.

HI
I am new to the association and am trying to find a list of the active boats' sail numbers.
Does that registry exist?I just can t find it on the site. It would be interesting to know how many of the thousands of boats built since 57 are still around and located.
There is also a list of "I know where there is a Scot just standing there and waiting to be revamped".
That is what happened to mine: in a barn for 20-25 years. I was told about it by hearsay. Found it, fell in love with the old thing (maybe it was so sad looking) , bought it and ....you should see her now after her total makeover! She is indeed a Vamp.
Anyway my question: is there an paper or online registry of all the boats that are active and/or located?
Thanks

After my comment I saw that a roster does exist and should be sent out. It is however still interesting to have a "spotted roster" . For example qe may know where  number ...... is , bad shape or not, and the owner is not a member of the FSSA.

I read in the join/renew section these words :
You will also receive our official handbook, as well as a roster of all members of the FSSA.
I have not received it yet nor the official handbook.
I will wait a bit more.

That wording needs to be updated.  The Handbook is available on the web site.
If you need a roster you can contact the FSSA and they will send it to you.

I have been thinking about a causual "boat blog" type system where users can create a page dedicated to a boat.  The page would contain information about the boat, current whereabouts, and maybe a photo.  I am not sure how much something like that would be used but I figure that it is worth a shot to attempt a run at a demo period.

In our profile it looks like we can put photos but I don t know how to upload them.
It would be a good idea to have pictures of various boats, repairs, useful tips, spotter's corner ( like old collectible cars) . I am quite sure the traffic would be substantial.
I am thinking of my dad , 84 , still sailing his FS 894 ( ny tje way an extremely rare Tanzer boat ). He still would rce if there was a fleet ( there was once some 20 flying scots on LAc des Deux Montagnes, Québec, but now he is the only one left. So spotting and repairs pictures are more interesting than racw pictures.
I guess we are all kids and we never have enough pictures.

I am with you Mark,  There are only so many racing pictures that I can look at.  After a while they all look the same.  We are working on adding some documentation in a help section to get people going.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hi,
When I updated our regatta (adding links and our NOR for the 2013 Summer Solstice Regatta) it seems that a sub page was created. When viewing the regatta from the 'Upcomming Event'  list displayed to the right, I am taken to an original page and then must click on the 'Title of the Event' to see the updated subpage. So, the updates are not seen directly. When using the short cut from the Upcomming Events Feature I am concerned that people will not find and view the subpage which has the full content.
However, when  I go to the Capitol District page, the new Sub Page for the event is the direct link (?)
Is there a way to bring all the updates for the event to the original top page? Or, is there a way to set-up an auto-revise for the link in the 'upcomming events' calendar on the home page to link to the newly formed subpage?
Thank you!
David

David,
I'll look into fixing this but using comments in this way is unexpected.
Why didn't you just alter the event rather than add a comment with the additional information?
Glenn

I didn't post the NOR as a comment, That was our regatta chair. I am the author of the listing and he wasn't sure how to update.
Please review my comments carefully. It seems the other "coded link" page is generated when the the event is autolisted in Upcomming Events. And this page is moved to thetop somehow when using the upcomming events feature. And then that new page cannot be edited. I added links and files to the original page that has the event title in the link. it is the "coded link "generated by the auto calendaring feature that seems to make the path less direct. It somehow becomes a superceding page when viewing from the upcomming events link.
Please view the event listing from both; the upcomming events, and, the items as scheduled under the Capitol Districts page. there is a difference as to where the user is directed.

Many Thanks,
David

David,
Thanks for the detailed explanation!   I think it is now fixed.  Please look it over.
