What a great 2015 FS Fleet 23 Open House Regatta at Corinthian Sailing Club, White Rock Lake, Dallas, TX. Beautiful weather, breeze, and good friends from all over the area and beyond. Please check out this drone video of the regatta by Houston. https://youtu.be/D5hCpJrAFok.

From John Domagala:

The Open House regatta in Dallas TX got its name from the tradition of sailors putting up traveling sailors in their homes to promote attendance. Your welcome hosts however had to wait Friday eve for the guests to take in the welcoming party Friday eve. After a good night’s sleep the travelers were welcomed with the traditional breakfast tacos to fuel rigging of the boats. The weather was near perfect.  Warm, sunny, and a moderate breeze would hold all weekend. The only imperfections was the Easterly breezes. For those that don’t know White Rock lake, an easterly will turn an normally shifty into a series of auto tacks where you can go quickly from the front to the back an back again. Richard Wade made his annual return to White Rock and would draw first blood in the championship division. Kelly Gough would take 2nd. In the Challenger fleet Nancy Frisco Sailing with Greta Mittman would take the bullet ahead of Melissa Hemker. The 2nd race would see a mix up in the standings with Robert Cummings and Alanna Strong take the top 2 spots. In fact as of lunch Saturday only 4 boats had avoided double digit placed finishes, including Kelly and Richard. Nancy and Melissa continued with 1,2 scores in the challenger fleet. After a nice lunch break in the club the sailors returned to the water for 2 more Races. Kelly and Richard each racked up a bullet in the afternoon session, Kelly would add a 4th to his scores while Richard was flagged OCS and missed his hail to return. In the challenger fleet Nancy and Melissa added 1,2 and 2,3 score.

Off the water the happy hour started and was followed by a nice Fajita dinner, dockside live band, and sunset. The music and party continued into the evening. Sunday morning sailors were again welcomed with the traditional Sunday Biscuits and gravy. The shifty but moderate easterly continued along with the sun and warmth. Harry Carpenter would win the 1st race in a boat he was delivering at this regatta. He was rumored to also have delivered a new boat to Kelly, but that remained hermetically sealed in Kelly’s garage for the weekend and could not be verified. Nancy Franco added another bullet in the 1st challenger race of the day while Melissa Hemker would take the final race for her 1st win of the weekend. In the championship fleet finale Griffin Orr would take his first win of the series. Kelly and Hiede Gough would win the series with Michael Rist edging out Griffin Orr by a point for 2nd place. Michael was the only Championship boat to end the weekend with single digit finishes. After a great series Nancy Franco and Melissa Hemker ended the event 1-2 as they did in most of the races.. Baron Ellason finished the weekend in 3rd

Thanks to the fleet for their hospitality and Dari Esfahani for a great job running the event!
