2014 George Washington Birthday Regatta

District:

GW Regatta 1GW Regatta 2

The 2014 George Washington Birthday Regatta was held at at Lake Eustis by Fleet 150 on February 15th and 16th.   After several years of Mother Nature not wanting to put two great days of sailing together on the same weekend, this year the Scot sailors were treated to clear 70 degree skies, brisk winds with great competition throughout the event.

Twenty Scots competed in 5 races over two days; unfortunately, some of our expected guests were literally stuck in the snow as the I-95 corridor froze solid.

Zeke Horowitz, with his Dad, put on a clinic leading the pack, followed by Florida's District Governor Mark Taylor, then David Ames on the speedy (and lovable) Pig Pen.

The racing was tight top to bottom as the Race Committee made all the right calls to assure the course was ideal.

Thank you to all of the participants that continue to make this Regatta one of the most attended events of the winter Scot season.  Please remember to mark your calendar for next year's event to enjoy some of the best one-design Scot racing available with never a snowflake in sight.
