Sad News in the Flying Scot Family

2018 Hohlers

It is with a heavy heart that we tell the Flying Scot community that Tom Hohler passed away on January 9, 2018,at age 73. Tom was a stalwart of the Flying Scot class, having served as Ohio District Governor for several years, before joining his wife Chris Czapleski in France on her very exciting teaching journey.  Chris describes him as Thomas Paul Hohler, Ph.D. – teacher, scholar of philosophy, passionate competitive sailor, and, especially, husband and father.  I'd like to add loyal friend to that list.

Tom and Chris campaigned their Flying Scot 3883 together for many years, competing locally, regionally and nationally, and we will all miss him on the race course.  He was a friend to everyone he met in the Flying Scot class. Tom is survived by his loving wife Chris, his son Paul, his daughter Andrea, his 2 grandsons adam and Aaron, and lots of other family and friends, We miss you already, Tom.

A great weekend at the Sandy Douglas Memorial Regatta with Cathy Huston, and Larry and Deb Anderson, our hosts. Larry is a great skipper as you can see by our finish in the Masters. Deep Creek has some amazing sailors. 52 boats including 16 from off the lake. Love this year's shirt!

A great chalk talk session this morning at the Sandy Douglas Regatta. Many thanks to Tyler, Ryan and Zeke. It's great to hear different perspective and I actually used some of the tips or ideas.
